Auckland’s Newest Drop-In Blow-Dry and Hair Cuttery Bar | The Cut

Recently I was invited to have my hair cut and blow-dried at Auckland’s newest hair salon, The Cut. As soon as I heard the renowned Hamilton Brooks and Frana Evans were behind it, I was in!

The duo’s new creation perfectly meets the gap between high-end salons and the convenience and affordability of walk-in hairdressers and still in the most beautiful setting. Prices are capped at $33 for a hair cut and $40-45 for a wash and blow dry, without skimping on quality. All the stylists have been hand-picked by Brooks and Evans, to ensure you will leave the salon feeling amazing.

I was looked after incredibly well, leaving with freshly trimmed and styled locks that lasted me all weekend. My favourite part about The Cut – and what completely blew my mind – is there is no appointment needed! This works in perfectly with my unusual (and often last minute changing) schedule. No need to worry if you have a last minute event or just feel like a pick me up. A good mood is definitely guaranteed after visiting!

I will leave you today with some winter trends that Frana Evans says will be huge this season:

Textured, choppy layers will be a massive trend for those wanting to achieve a full-bodied, roughed-up, rocker look. Bangs are back too, though in a way we haven’t seen for some time. Skip your styling tools and let your fringe be free to create a cool, grungy look that is cutting edge.

The mid-length chop, the ‘lob’ (long bob) continues to be in vogue this season. It’s a collarbone length cut that suits almost all face shapes and hair types. Fine hair will benefit from the no-layered look, as it helps the hair to appear thicker and elongates the neck.

From a styling perspective, the classic blow-wave is our go-to at THE CUT. When done right, the blow-wave provides smooth, bouncy volume and a glossy finish that is forever chic, no matter your hair type.
